Derby has “open lacing” meaning that quarters are stitched on top of the vamp - notice how there is no seam between the tongue and the front of the shoe. The derby became a popular sporting and hunting boot in the 1850s, and by the turn of the 20th century the derby had become appropriate for wear in town, and now you can find them worn all over the world, they come in a brogue or toe cap, boot or a shoe. Please Note: Once purchased, we recommend all leather sole footwear have a thin rubber lining put on the sole by a shoe cobbler. The reason is, to prolong the sole life of the shoe.
